Retail environment during the Christmas season

Black Friday, the Christmas season and January sales are approaching fast. For retailers and shopping centres, autumn is not only about campaigns – it also means producing materials, making changes to stores, preparing digital content and coordinating installations, often all at the same time.

As autumn progresses, production and installation schedules fill up quickly. Now is a good time to make sure your plans for the rest of the year are in place and there is enough time to bring them to life.

At Evet, we work with retailers, brands and shopping centres across Finland, delivering store renovations, pop-up spaces, campaign solutions and brand visibility. In our experience, good planning is one of the most important ingredients of a successful season.

Here are five things worth checking now.

1. Is your campaign plan ready?

Rather than treating each campaign as a separate project, it makes sense to look at the entire year-end season as a whole. Planning Black Friday, Christmas and January sales together makes it easier to coordinate materials, production and installations efficiently.

Make sure your plan covers at least:

  • Black Friday and Cyber Week

  • Christmas campaigns

  • Christmas openings and any joint shopping centre campaigns

  • January sales and post-season campaigns

If you operate in a shopping centre, remember to check the centre’s own schedules and guidelines as well. Material approvals, installation guidelines and installation times may need to be agreed in advance.

2. Have you allowed enough time for materials and production?

Autumn is one of the busiest production periods of the year. Printers, material suppliers and installation teams book up quickly, so now is the time to review what you will need for the rest of the year.

Check your requirements for:

  • POS materials

  • printed materials

  • window and floor graphics

  • signage

  • LED and digital display solutions

Material choices are also important. Solutions used outdoors or near entrances need to withstand Finland’s changing autumn and winter weather.

In practice:

We have delivered store fixtures, campaign visibility solutions and renovations for LYKO stores together with our Norwegian partner. Our campaign work has included POS materials, window graphics and other solutions that strengthen visibility in-store. When production and installations are planned as one coordinated process, campaigns can be rolled out smoothly even during the busiest periods.

3. Is your store ready for the season?

During peak shopping periods, it is especially important that customers can find products easily and that the store makes a strong impression from the moment they walk in.

Take a look at:

  • the overall look and feel of the store

  • campaign fixtures and displays

  • signage and visibility

  • customer flows and routes through the store

  • checkout and campaign areas

The darker autumn and winter months make lighting, signage and eye-catching campaign solutions even more important. A clear, well-designed store environment makes shopping easier and helps campaigns stand out.

In practice:

We created an eye-catching beverage section for Hartwall at K-Citymarket Ideapark in Lempäälä. Illuminated end displays in brand colours, lit category signage and bold wall graphics strengthen brand visibility while making products easier to find. A well-designed store environment works for customers all year round while also providing a strong foundation for seasonal campaigns.

4. Is your digital display content up to date?

Digital displays are at their most effective when the content changes along with your campaigns. Now is a good time to review your content needs for the rest of the year and decide what can be prepared in advance and where you need the flexibility to make quick changes.

Check your plans for:

  • campaign content

  • offers and promotions

  • seasonal animations

  • scheduling for different campaign phases

  • automated content changes

In practice:

The digital ordering and information displays we delivered for Kotipizza make it easy to update campaigns and offers across different locations. Digital solutions provide valuable flexibility during busy seasons, when messages and promotions may need to change quickly. For temporary needs, Evet also offers portable LED displays for rent.

5. Have you planned when and how installations will take place?

The busiest weeks of the season are not always the best time to make changes in-store. Installations should be scheduled to minimise disruption to customers and normal store operations.

Stores and shopping centres may also have their own rules and restrictions regarding installation work.

Before work begins, make sure you know:

  • when installations can take place

  • whether any approvals or permits are required

  • how materials and fixtures will be brought into the space

  • whether power and network requirements have been taken into account

  • how the work will fit around normal store operations

Sorting out these practical details before the busiest weeks helps ensure that the installation itself runs as smoothly as possible.

Good preparation pays off during the season

Successful year-end campaigns take more than good offers. They require planning, timely decisions and smooth cooperation between marketing, production and implementation.

By September, the year-end season is already getting close, but there is still time to make a difference. Getting campaigns, materials, digital content and installations in order now means that when the busiest weeks arrive, you can focus on what matters most – serving customers and driving sales.

Evet helps retailers, brands and shopping centres deliver seasonal campaigns, store solutions, digital displays and visibility solutions from planning through to installation. If your year-end projects are still in progress, now is a good time to turn those plans into action.
